Frequently Asked Questions Q.
What is UltraSync Version 1.5?
A.
UltraSync™ Version 1.5 from imagine LAN, Inc. is a profile-based peer-to-peer PC synchronization
application that provides XP UMPC/Tablet/Notebook/Desktop users with comprehensive digital content
synchronization between two XP computers. UltraSync combines several categories of synchronization (including files, folders, Outlook® email, and Internet favorites) into a single easy-to-use application, resulting
in effortless synchronization via a wired or wireless LAN. Q.
Where can I purchase UltraSync v1.5?
A.
UltraSync 14-day trial software can be downloaded from here. The trial software splash screen provides a link to purchase an UltraSync license and activate the software. Corporate customers may send purchase orders to imagine LAN's Sales Department
Q.
What kind of system can I use UltraSync v1.5 on?
A.
You can use UltraSync v1.5 on any computer with Windows XP/SP2 operating system. Your partner PC must also have Windows XP/SP2 operating system. Outlook 2003 is required for Outlook .PST synchronization and Internet Explorer 6 or later is required for IE browser favorites synchronization Q. How do I check the version number of UltraSync? A. Click Help and select Help About, the next screen will tell you your version number. Q. What is the "initiating PC"? A. The initiating PC can be any XP/SP2 desktop, notebook, tablet or UMPC that has UltraSync installed on it. The UltraSync dashboard user interface runs from the initiating PC and all synchronizations (manual or AutoSync) are started from the initiating PC. A. After you install UltraSync on the initiating PC, the first time you run UltraSync you will be prompted to set up a sync partnership with another PC. The PC you choose to set up a partnership with is the "partner PC". The partner PC can be any XP/SP2 desktop, notebook, tablet or UMPC that is on the same local area network (LAN) as the initiating PC. Q. How do I make sure my PC and its sync partner are on the same LAN?
A.
If you have a home or small office network, make sure both PCs are on the same workgroup. You can run the Windows Network Setup Wizard (from the Windows Control Panel) on both PCs and specify the same Workgroup name for both. Q. Why do changes to folders on my D: drive fail to sync properly? A. This is a known issue that will be corrected in the next UltraSync update. In the current software, folder sync is only supported for folders residing on the same drive as the UltraSync installation, which in most cases is the C: drive. As a temporary workaround, users may choose to install UltraSync on their D: drive (on both the PC and the partner PC), if that is the location of the folders they wish to sync. |
