Q.   What is UltraSync Version 1.0?

    A.   UltraSync™ Version 1.0 from imagine LAN, Inc. is a profile-based peer-to-peer PC synchronization application that provides Sony VAIO® Computer users with comprehensive digital content synchronization between their Sony VAIO Computer and a XP/SP2 desktop, notebook, tablet or UMPC. UltraSync combines several categories of synchronization (including files, folders, Outlook® email, and Internet favorites) into a single easy-to-use application, resulting in effortless synchronization via a wired or wireless LAN.

Q.   Where can I purchase UltraSync v1.0?

    A.   UltraSync is pre-installed on select Sony VAIO Computer models. The partner PC component of UltraSync is a 30-day trial version provided for your use and evaluation. When the trial expires you will no longer be able to sync your partner PC with your Sony VAIO Computer. You will be provided with an opportunity to purchase a license for the partner PC component and convert your trial software to a fully licensed version.

If you wish to purchase additional copies of UltraSync for other XP PCs, UltraSync 14-day trial software can be downloaded from here. The trial software splash screen provides a link to purchase an UltraSync license and activate the software. Corporate customers may send purchase orders to imagine LAN's Sales Department

Q.   What kind of system can I use UltraSync v1.0 on?

    A.   You can use UltraSync v1.0 on select Sony VAIO Computer models with Windows XP operating system. Your partner PC must also have Windows XP/SP2 operating system. Outlook 2003 is required for Outlook .PST synchronization and Internet Explorer 6 or later is required for IE browser favorites synchronization

Q.   How do I check the version number of UltraSync?

    A.   Click Help and select Help About, the next screen will tell you your version number.

Q.   What is the "Sony VAIO Computer?

    A.   The Sony VAIO Computer is the XP/SP2 computer that has UltraSync installed on it. The UltraSync dashboard user interface runs from the Sony VAIO Computer and all synchronizations (manual or AutoSync) are started from the Sony VAIO Computer.

Q.   What is the "partner PC"?

    A.   The first time you run UltraSync on your Sony VAIO Computer you will be prompted to set up a sync partnership with another PC. The PC you choose to set up a partnership with is the "partner PC". The partner PC can be any XP/SP2 desktop, notebook, tablet or UMPC that is on the same local area network (LAN) as the Sony VAIO Computer.

Q.   How do I make sure my PC and its sync partner are on the same LAN?

    A.   If you have a home or small office network, make sure both PCs are on the same workgroup. You can run the Windows Network Setup Wizard (from the Windows Control Panel) on both PCs and specify the same Workgroup name for both.

If you have a Domain network make sure both PCs have joined the domain. Note: you may need to contact your Network Administrator to add a PC to your domain.

Q.   Why do changes to folders on my D: drive fail to sync properly?

    A.   This is a known issue that will be corrected in the next UltraSync update. In the current software, folder sync is only supported for folders residing on the same drive as the UltraSync installation, which in most cases is the C: drive.
